Fear of Attack by Ohaji Militants Grips Owerri as they Mourn their Dead at Ugwu Ekwema

Fear has gripped the indegenes and inhabitants of Owerri as a result of a reported impending

Penultimate Saturday, Governor Rochas Okorocha hired and used militants from Ohaji-Egbema Local Government during the demolition of Eke-Ukwu Owerri Market. This provoked Owerri youths, who in retaliation attacked people from the area around Oparanozie Park where they load.

 On Wednesday, August 30, 2017, the Ohaji-Egbema youths according to eye witness account stormed Owerri and started harassing people and the Owerri youths engaged them, leading to the death of two youths from Ohaji-Egbema. Since then, speculations have been rife on an impending attack of Owerri city by militants from the area.

However, a credible source close to the leadership of the militant group operating in area confirmed to BNW that no such attack is planned.

Meanwhile, the Owerri zone yesterday at Ugwu Ekwema, Egbu Road, Owerri, mourned the 10-year-old Master Somtochukwu Ibeanusi and others killed during the demolition of Eke-Ukwu Owerri Market by the APC-led government.
